IEP Transition Goals

Why the identification of measurable post-secondary goals for education, employment, and independent living is an essential part of the IEP transition plan.

Post secondary goals for education:

Students have the opportunity to reflect on their strengths and interest.

These goals start at the age of 14 in Ohio.

Employment:

The student will work on employment after high school graduation. In an area of interest and according to the students strengths.

Independent living:

The ability to make their own choices on where to live, who to live with, and how they live.

  • Post secondary goals for education, employment, and independent living all go together when talking about the IEP transition plan. Each part allows for a better understanding of what the students interest and goals are for life after high school.
